Ways to wash organza items

The method of removing contaminants can be any: both manual and washing machine automatic. The water temperature at which tulle, curtains and other things are washed should be no higher than 35 degrees. The washing powder or gel must have gentle properties. Aggressive means cannot be used.

When washing by hand, the material must be rubbed very carefully so as not to damage the threads of the fabric. Twisting also needs to be handled very carefully so that the item does not lose its shape and strength. The best way to get rid of excess water is to simply let it drain a little and then lightly press the material down, squeezing out the excess water. After spinning, you can shake the products to straighten the fibers and additionally get rid of excess moisture. Let's look at the washing options in more detail.

Cleaning of items should be done in an automatic machine in the delicate washing mode. If you don’t have a modern washing machine at home, you can’t clean curtains or tulle in an old machine.

For better removal of contaminants using washing machine additional preparation for the process is required. To do this, follow the following procedures:

  • If you have to clean tulle or curtains, then before starting the process it would be a good idea to shake them on the street or balcony to get rid of excess dust. Clothes should be freed from items forgotten in the pocket;
  • despite the fact that the cleaning process will be carried out in an automatic machine, it is better to additionally soak the fabric in slightly warm water, adding a little detergent to it and leave for a couple of hours;
  • items must be placed in a bag of suitable size intended for washing. If this is not available, you can do without it.The bag helps to better preserve the structure of the fibers and the quality of the fabric;
  • It is necessary to set the delicate mode when choosing a method for removing contaminants. The water temperature in this mode should be about 30-35 degrees, but not more than 40. It is better to exclude spinning. If the spin function is required and cannot be canceled, then you need to set the minimum speed of this mode. Setting the water temperature to high and intensive spinning will change the texture of the fabric: it will become more wrinkled and lose its shape;
  • Use gentle detergent in the amount indicated on the package. Nowadays you can buy a special gel in stores to clean such material. You can first familiarize yourself with the quality of such a product by studying reviews about it on specialized Internet resources;
  • When washing organza, there is no need to use conditioners that are not intended for such material. Due to the use of air conditioning and exposure of curtains to sunlight, they may turn yellow;
  • When bleaching, you should not use products containing chlorine. If there is a need to bleach tulle or curtains, it is better to use oxygen bleach;
  • to avoid the appearance of stains from the remaining powder on curtains or other things, you need to use an additional rinse when choosing a washing mode;
  • After washing, immediately remove the items from the washing machine and straighten them well, hanging them on a line.

Hand wash organza

If it is not possible to clean clothes or organza curtains in automatic machine, then you can do it manually. When washing this way, you also need to follow several rules:

  1. pre-soak curtains, tulle or other organza items in water heated to 30-35 degrees. You can use simple table salt to soften the water. If you are washing tulle or curtains in the bathtub, add a couple of glasses of salt to the water. If you are washing a small item in a basin, a couple of spoons will be enough. Also, add a small amount of powder along with the salt. It is better to soak curtains and tulle hanging in the kitchen in dishwashing detergent, adding a little soda;
  2. prepare water for washing. It is better to dissolve the powder in water in advance to form foam. When cleaning curtains and tulle, it is recommended to pour a small amount of table vinegar into the water. After such washing, the curtains will shimmer and shine better in the sun;
  3. hand washing itself should also be done very delicately. Do not rub things roughly and vigorously. When washing, it is better to rub the material lightly, gently crumple it, as if "making snowballs";
  4. After cleaning, rinse the items well. If you are cleaning a large item, such as curtains or tulle, you need to take them out of the bath, wash its walls well, and only then start rinsing. When rinsing white tulle, you can add a little blueing to the water at the last stage of rinsing.
  5. After rinsing, you need to take the item out and let it drain well. It is not recommended to squeeze the material hard. You can slightly crush it with your hands, and then shake it.

Bleaching organza

Whitening organza

Over time, even with good care, organza items lose their attractiveness. Curtains and tulle made of white transparent material begin to turn yellow or acquire a gray tint.Don’t despair, but rather try to return the material to its former whiteness. The following methods can be used:

  • prepare a mixture of a solution of 3% hydrogen peroxide and ammonia. For one liter of water you need to take a tablespoon of ammonia and a couple of tablespoons of peroxide. Immerse the product in this liquid for half an hour, and then rinse in clean water;
  • To prepare a saline solution, you will need regular table salt at the rate of one tablespoon per liter of water. The fabric should be left in such water for at least three to four hours;
  • the use of blue when bleaching material is also very convenient for both hand and machine washing. When cleaning things in the machine, you can pour blue into the rinse aid compartment at the rate of 1/2 teaspoon per ten liters of water. When washing stains by hand, the blue should be thoroughly dissolved in water, the fabric should be kept in this solution for several minutes, and then rinsed well in clean water;
  • prepare a mixture of baking soda with the addition of laundry detergent or laundry soap. This is a fairly simple and effective method. You need to take a pinch of powder or grated washing soap and add one tablespoon of soda, dissolve in five liters of warm water. Soak the fabric in this solution for 20 minutes before washing;
  • Upon completion of washing and rinsing, you can dip the curtains, tulle or other product in water with starch. This method not only helps to restore whiteness, but will also help restore its former shape. To prepare the solution, you need to take 250 grams of starch and stir until completely dissolved in a bucket of water. You need to soak the product in this solution for 20 minutes.
  • bleaching with brilliant green.This method can be used after cleaning the main contaminants. In a glass of water you need to stir the brilliant green solution (10-12 drops). After a couple of minutes, check that there is no sediment at the bottom of the glass, as it can stain the fabric with green stains. The resulting liquid should be added to a basin of water, which should acquire a light turquoise tint. If you overdo it with the concentration of the solution, the fabric may acquire a greenish tint. Next, place the fabric in the basin for three minutes, turning it several times during the soaking process. Then you need to squeeze it out a little, without twisting, and hang it so that the remaining water drains from it. After this procedure, the fabric will become noticeably fresher and regain its lost whiteness.

Ironing organza

Ironing organza

There are different types of organza, some of which do not require ironing. But if the item is wrinkled, then before smoothing it out with an iron, you need to take into account some factors. When organza is exposed to too high a temperature during washing or ironing, the fabric loses its structure. In this case, the product “floats”, the geometric dimensions of the curtains or tulle are distorted. Even a slight excess of temperature can lead to an irreversible process: burning or deformation of matter.

Before you start ironing, make sure that the soleplate of the iron is clean. If there is carbon deposits, it must first be cleaned with special means. The temperature setting for ironing organza should not exceed 40 degrees or levels I-II on the iron regulator. However, even this temperature can cause tissue damage. It is better to use gauze, papyrus paper or a piece of cotton fabric when ironing.When using gauze, you need to pay attention to its quality and, if necessary, roll it in two or three layers. If the tulle or curtains are too long, then you need to take care of the convenience of ironing in advance.

Many people are accustomed to using the steam mode when ironing or spraying the material with water. Both of these methods are best avoided. Steaming may cause deformation of the fabric, and the use of water splashes will result in possible staining of the fabric. If there is a need to smooth out strong creases, you can spray the material using very clean water and the finest spray possible.

If there are center seams on the curtains, ironing must be done from the front side to avoid seam marks.

If you follow simple rules and recommendations for caring for organza, the product will last a very long time and will always look beautiful.
