When the whole world began to suffer from the Internet and electrical circuits, Electrolux once again made the right decision and decided to keep up with the times. Electrical circuits were developed, which today have developed into the EWM 1000+ electrical board, capable of independently reporting error codes for Electrolux washing machines. Several sensors and fairly balanced software make the machine quite autonomous, capable of independently reporting a breakdown.
How to read a signal
It just seems like a simple task. What’s so difficult, I looked at the display, checked the article, identified the error and corrected it. But it's not that simple. Firstly, there are both display and non-display options for controlling the Electrolux washing machine. And if the display panel simply displays an existing error code, then you will have to tinker with the option without a display.
If the Electrolux washing machine has an EWM 1000+ electrical board, then there are two options: the buttons are arranged vertically in one row or horizontally in two rows. For the first case, you need to press the two buttons closest to the selector and turn the selector according to numbers from 1 to 8.Each number will indicate its own block of errors, and the number of “blinks” of the LED will indicate the sub-number of the Electrolux error. Everything seems simple.
With two rows it is even more difficult; here, to enter the testing mode, you will have to hold the two upper plugs in the row farthest from the selector and also turn the knob for washing modes from 1 to 8. For Electrolux machines with the EWM 2000 system, the scheme is even more complicated and can be done without consulting a specialist It's unlikely to work.
Error codes and solutions
If we have sorted out the issue of reading the signal, then let’s talk about its decoding and possible solutions in each individual case. The signal appears in E21 format, where any number can be found instead of 2 and 1. The letter e is almost always unchanged, but the numbers respectively mean the error group number and sub-number, which indicates a specific error in the washing machine. Let's look at each group piece by piece and give possible solutions. It is worth saying in advance that in some cases, the problem included in the code by the manufacturer does not reflect the real situation. This is rare, but it happens. Especially for such cases, both the manufacturer’s opinion and solution options from plumbers and repairmen will be voiced.
Group 0
Group 0 represents a total of four errors.
E 01, E02, E04 are associated with a malfunction of the DSP sensor. Such signals can be resolved by simply replacing the sensor. It is unlikely that it will be possible to re-solder or remake the sensor without replacing it.
Error E 03 indicates a problem with the operation of the electric heater; in fact, the solution is the same as with the sensor: replace it and not worry about it anymore.
Group 1
This group of Electrolux washing machine errors is associated with water supply errors.
E11 is one of the most common and easily solved errors. This error indicates that the water level in the drum is low. The Electrolux washing machine has a certain period of time during which it must fill the tank and begin washing. Usually it's 10 minutes. If during this time the water supply system has failed, the signal goes to the Electrolux sensor. The cause of this error is usually weak water pressure. The reasons may be external, that is, low pressure in the water supply network, or internal: clogged filters in the machine. The Electrolux washing machine filter is a fine-mesh mesh in the valve body. The valve is installed on the water intake hose. If the water pressure is fine, then it could very well be a blockage.
E12 - this error has the same roots and solutions, only it is responsible for the supply of water during the drying mode. This washing program is not available in all of the company’s machines, which is why the error code is not written in every washing machine.
E31 is an extremely rare code indicating a crack in the housing. At the bottom of the drum there is a clever float that floats up, opening the contact if water begins to enter the pan of the machine. In this condition the machine will not work. To correct the error, you will have to disassemble the drum and see why this float was so “scared”.
Group 2
This group of errors is responsible for draining water from the tank.
E21 means that the water from the tank was not drained within the allotted time. The problem almost always lies in connecting the machine to the sewer. You need to clean the filters and check the hose connecting the machine to the sewer.
E23, E24 - 23 error means problems with the triac on the control circuit, and 24 error with the triac on the pump. But experienced repairmen say that the code usually indicates the same error on the control circuit.
Group 3
Group 3 is responsible for Electrolux water sensors. But these errors almost never happen in reality, and if a code with the number 3 is suddenly displayed, the problem is in the control circuit. Sometimes replacing the heating element can help, but the specific solution depends on the situation.
Electrolux registers the following errors:
E33 – problems with the interaction of the water level sensors of the washing machine.
E35 is an error code indicating a problem with the interaction of pressure switches.
Group 4
This block of codes is responsible for the hatch door of the washing mashine.
The easiest way to solve the Electrolux error with code E41. This is a loose closure of the hatch, which can be solved by simply closing the door.
E42 signals a breakdown of the device blocking the hatch of the Electrolux washing machine. Replacing the design will help solve this error.
E 43 code indicates a malfunction of the triac responsible for closing the hatch. To accurately determine the problem, you will have to inspect the electrical board and replace the triac of the Electrolux washing machine.
E44 is an error code for the door close sensor. The problem is solved by reinstalling the sensor of the Electrolux washing machine.
E45 is the most serious error of this group of codes. This is a problem with the wiring connecting the electrical board and the sensor on the door of the Electrolux washing machine. To eliminate this code, Electrolux will have to inspect the entire network for problems.
Group 5
These are error codes for Electrolux washing machines associated with problems in the operation of the motor that rotates the drum.
E51 – motor triac malfunction. A simple solution - replacing the part - will solve the problem.Electronic malfunctions most often occur after a short circuit or voltage fluctuations in the network.
E 52 is a problem code for the interaction of the tachogenerator with the engine. There are only 2 possible malfunctions. The first is a malfunction of the tachometer. Replacing it should solve the problem. The second one is a little more interesting. In washing machines, the motor sometimes flies out of the retaining washer. To correct the code, you will have to disassemble the housing and reinstall the engine.
E53 – problems with the triac connecting the washing machine and the electrical board. Only checking the circuit will help.
E54 – Malfunctions with the Electrolux relay. The problem is solved by checking the relay contacts or replacing the part.
In some models of washing machines, additional block 5 codes are found. If they occur, it is necessary to check the wiring connecting the motor to the electrical board. The problem lies in it or violations of network parameters. That is, problems can be caused by power surges. There are values at which the Electrolux washing machine will not work.
Group 6
No matter how good Electrolux is, it also has its weaknesses. These are electric heaters. Therefore, code block 6, responsible for monitoring the heating element, is most often found in the practice of repairmen.
E61 - this code occurs if the Electrolux washing machine did not heat the water within the allotted period of time. Sometimes this happens due to voltage problems, but most often it is the heating element. You need to take it out of the machine and check the resistance. “Ring out” possible current leaks on the housing. If, when this code appears, you notice that the machine “likes” to shock, then the problem is a leak of electricity from the heating element to the body. Sometimes the temperature sensor may be faulty.Accordingly: the sensor or heating element simply needs to be replaced.
E62 - occurs if the water was heated too much. Electrolux took care of possible damage to linen due to high temperatures. The heating limit for washing machines is 88 degrees. But most often the problem is in the temperature sensor. It is worth inspecting it and checking for electrical resistance. It should be within 8 ohms.
E66, E68 - faulty control relay and too high leakage current in the washing machine. In any case, you will have to check and replace the heating element or its control elements.
Group 7
Associated with problems with the temperature sensor of Electrolux washing machines. It needs to be checked and replaced
Group 8
The rarest group of errors concerns selector malfunction.
E82 – selector malfunction. This indicates a failure of the selector or the wiring connecting it to the control unit.
E83 - the control unit cannot read data from the selector. This error actually means the failure of the washing machine control microprocessors. This issue can only be resolved by a competent specialist, since it will be necessary to check, repair and, possibly, replace almost all of the control electronics of the washing machine.
Group 9
These are problems with the SMA control systems.
All code 9 errors are problems with communication, configuration or interaction of electrical circuits.
E93 – Electrolux error codes associated with the SMA configuration. The easiest way to fix the error is to clean the electrical boards with alcohol. But the method does not always help. Sometimes you have to enter configuration code, and this is a rather labor-intensive task. Not all specialists undertake repairs.
E94-E97 - all associated with the same malfunctions of the control unit. You won't be able to fix problems on your own. Since elimination requires specific skills and equipment. You will have to check not only the microprocessors, but also the entire electronics of the washing machine, which is, at a minimum, labor-intensive, and may turn out to be useless. On the other hand, this check cannot be avoided. If the fault lies in the network, it is foolish to spend money on replacing processors. In general, it is better to consult a specialist.
Group B
In display models, type code EB1 may be found. There are only three of them and they are connected with the parameters of the external power supply network. If checking the external parameters does not help, you will have to check the electronic unit of the washing machine.
EB1 – the frequency of the current in the network does not correspond to that required for the operation of the machine.
EB2 - too much voltage. If this error occurs, the machine will not work. This is included in the code by the manufacturer to increase the durability of the equipment.
EB3 is, on the contrary, a signal that the voltage in the network is too low. The signal allows you to avoid unnecessary checks of the temperature sensor, since with a low voltage the water will take too long to heat up.
Conclusion
Electrolux washing machines have a fairly wide range of different problems. It’s just that washing equipment contains a very large number of elements, which means a large number of possible breakdowns. The manufacturer tried to provide for everything, so most of the codes exist only on paper. Most often, in washing machines, the heating element or electric motor of the washing machine fails. You can repair these elements yourself at home.
With some skills, you can also replace or check the sensors. But in matters related to the electrical board, relays or checking electrical connections, it is better to contact a professional. Even experienced repairmen often give in to problems with the control circuit, and an attempt to solve the problem on their own can lead to complete breakdown of the machine. Well, or to a state when it will be cheaper to buy a new washing machine than to repair an old one. In any case, the final decision is up to the owner of the unit.
